Jiu Jitsu Submissions

With all the hype of UFC 92 I've decided to post a blog about Jiu Jitsu Submissions. UFC 92 of course didn't feature any tapouts lol but I thought it would be fun to post this because Jiu Jitsu is growing and will only get bigger. Jiu Jitsu submissions are a great way to win a MMA fight, in fact and I'll probably make some people angry with this post, if Forrest Griffin hadn't of broke his hand before being taken down I really think he would have caught Rashad Evans in a submission. I want to recommend some a great training guide to help people out with their Jiu Jitsu Submissions.

This is the ultimate submission guide. 1001 submissions, is a great book with over 800 pages and 5000 pictures to show you the way the moves are performed. Its a great book and is a great reference guide. To me its worth having just to read the that bus stop or when I get some free time at work.

Jiu Jitsu Moves

Jiu Jitsu rocks, it has changed the sport of MMA into more of a thinking game. You can't expect to step into a fight just throwing punches and expect to win. Yeah it worked for Chuck Liddell for awhile but look what happened before Chuck started learning Jiu Jitsu...anyone remember his first fight with Jeremy Horn? Yeah he was choked out...because he has only began to learn about Jiu Jitsu. Now Jiu Jitsu is a very important part of every fighters game. Jiu Jitsu is a submission based style of martial arts. There are a few main positions in Jiu Jitsu, the guard, the mount, and the side mount. I've put together some videos of moves that can be worked from the different positions to demonstrate the power of Jiu Jitsu.
Jiu Jitsu Submissions. Also for those interested in learning Jiu Jitsu you should start with Fitness Jiu Jitsu, its a great training program that gets you in shape at the same time.

Chuck Liddell Knockouts

I've been a big fan of MMA since the early days of Ken Shamrock and Royce Gracie having war in the Octagon so I've seen the MMA change dramatically. The UFC started as a tournament to pit different fighting styles against each other. In reality it was created to prove the power of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Obviously a lot has changed since then including the fighters. Most of the fighters now are hybrid fighters, they learn all aspects of fighting from Muay Thai kickboxing to boxing to wrestling to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. One of the best known hybrid fighters is Chuck Liddell aka "The Iceman". Chuck Liddell dominated the sport for a long time. He has knocked out some of the best fighters in the world, including Tito Ortiz and Randy Couture. He was the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion after beating Randy Couture for the title, he later lost the title to Quinton Jackson and after that his career has been in a kind of downward spiral. A lot of guys in the MMA world believe its time for Chuck to retire but that is the furthest thing from his mind, he is already talking about wanting to fight Kieth Jardine and Randy Couture again. I believe that he still has some fight in him and that he can make a great comeback. I've really enjoyed watching his fights in the past and I've put together a page to showcase of his greatest UFC moments, please check out the page. I've also included a poll where you can cast your vote about whether you think he should retire.
